Degenerative Conditions / Osteoarthritis

Wear and tear ( Degeneration) of our joints sometimes cause discomfort, pain and stiffness. Keeping joints mobile and the surrounding supportive muscles strong and supple can make a big difference to your everyday function.

Strains and Sprains

From common overuse injuries like tennis elbow to acute or chronic joint or muscle pain / sport injuries, we can help you back on the road to recovery.

Headaches

Headaches can be related to dysfunction in the cervical spine and surrounding soft tissue. Treating the underlying source can give great relief of symptoms.

Neck and Back pain

Far too many people are suffering with spinal pain today not knowing what to do or where to start to improve or manage it. Back and neck pain can be due to various problems. From incorrect posture to disc problems to muscle strains and everything in between.

Shoulder pain

Shoulder pain is one of the most common complaints we see in clinic in our over 50 population. This is due to the degeneration of structures, particularly tendons in the shoulder complex. We offer assessment and treatment for shoulder conditions.

Lower back and Hip pain

Very commonly seen in clinic is patients suffering with a combination of lower back and hip pain. Often there is more than one structure involved that needs to be addressed due to the complexity and chronicity of symptoms. Pain often causes pain inhibition of muscles which means the muscle/ muscle groups does not work as well as they should which gives rise to other problems.

Muscular aches and pains

Whether due to injury or poor posture muscles can cause a significant amount of pain or discomfort. If things are not clearing up with your regular home regime do come and see where we can help. Often the right stretches, posture correction and muscle release techniques can relief such pains.

Vertigo and/or Dizziness

Vertigo or room-spinning can be due to various problems often originating from the inner ear. We offer specialised assessments and vestibular rehabilitation therapy for dizziness, unsteadiness and  BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) which is one of the most common causes of vertigo. Do not hesitate to contact us to find out more or discuss your current symptoms.

Balance and co-ordination

As we get older, we often find that our balance and co-ordination is not as good as it once was. This puts us at higher risk of injury, especially falls. Reducing the risk of falls in older adults should be a top priority as this often leads to fractures and hospitalization which could have been prevented.

If you need help improving your balance and co-ordination and/or would like to improve you general mobility and strength, we would love to help.  We can provide you with regular exercise sessions/ programs for general strengthening and to improve balance and co-ordination. We always prefer you coming into clinic as we have everything here we need to make your session as beneficial as possible, however if you, for whatever reason, prefer to be seen at home we can arrange this on request. Please note that home visits are only available in the Eythorne/ Elvington/ Shepherdswell area.  Additional costs apply to home visits.

Rehabilitation post injury, fracture or joint replacement

After injury or immobilisation, you may experience a decrease in range of motion in joints due to stiffness, pain or both. It may also cause weakness of the involved muscles. In many cases exercises at home or resuming normal activities will resolve this issues. If however, you find that things are not progressing as expected or you are worried about anything, we will be happy to assist you on the road to recovery. Give us a call or request a free call back to discuss the problem.
